I Started Going to the Gym
Something in me finally clicked and said, “fuck it, let’s do the damn thing.”
I logged out of work and went down the street to sign up for a membership at Gold’s Gym. I don’t what I was expecting starting this fitness journey.
For the past two years I had been doing 1-2 hikes a week and had purchased an online workout program (V-Shred). I think it worked for what I was looking for at the time. My system worked out for me and I honestly just loved being outside or being able to wrap up a workout quickly before continuing with my day.
Then, 2023 came in and suddenly I was out of luck for hikes (hello, heat) and my time was spread thin even more due to my travel time for work and home (I spent about three hours a day just driving to and from work). I hit a wall in my fitness and I don’t think I was ever close to reaching my ideal goals.
2024 comes and I know I can’t just be still. I wanted to do something that would work for me and my new schedule. So, I followed a few women on Instagram and TikTok that went to the gym regularly and took a leap into this gym journey.

I’m now eight months into going to the gym- it’s been the best thing, I truly never imagined feeling this full and happy with this place. I was definitely overwhelmed by the amount of machines and what I should be doing, so I promised myself that I would work to build up the daily (5x a week) habit of going to the gym and start correcting some of my meal choices for three months before pricing out and finding a trainer.
I did it! I made it three months and by luck of the universe found my trainer, Trevor. If you’ve been following my fitness journey on my Instagram or TikTok, then you’re familiar with how we met and how much I appreciate him. I’ve heard so many horror stories about people feeling frustrated or belittled by their trainers and I feel so relieved that Trevor has been wonderful to work with since the beginning.
Honestly, the whole gym staff at Gold’s are so encouraging, supportive, and mindful. I don’t think I could have had a better start to this journey than what I’ve had so far.
It’s October and I’m still getting back on track after being out for a month and some new schedule changes, but I can confidently tell you that I am still fully in love with my progress journey and the way in which it’s shaped my overall health.
All this to say that I absolutely adore Gold’s, appreciate my trainer, and look forward to continuing to build good habits for myself and little C.
